This project collects and amplifies real stories of land injustice while equipping affected families with legal education and advocacy tools. We empower communities to understand their land rights, fight displacement, and build long-term protection through storytelling and legal literacy.
What Is the Problem?
Across many communities, vulnerable families are being displaced due to land grabs, gentrification, and lack of legal knowledge. Their stories often go unheard, and many do not understand their rights or how to protect them. This lack of awareness contributes to generational poverty, housing insecurity, and social injustice.
Land Rights Defenders will identify, document, and share stories from communities affected by land injustice, using them to raise awareness and mobilize change. We will also host legal literacy workshops and provide accessible toolkits to educate families about land ownership, tenant rights, and advocacy strategies. Combining storytelling with legal empowerment builds both awareness and action.
By amplifying real voices and providing rights-based education, this project will: • Empower over 500 community members with tools to defend their land and housing. • Create a replicable model for using storytelling as a vehicle for legal empowerment. • Build a lasting archive of community experiences that can inform advocacy, policy, and public education for years to come.
